I think a lot of people here are living under tremendous stress. Singapore is a small island of 719 km2 and yet it has 5.768 million people. Compare this to Penang, Malaysia which is 1,048 km2 (1 1/2 X SG) and has a population of only 1.89 million.
Can't imagine what is Singapore going to be like when the population hits 6.9 million in 2030 (SG government projection).

No choice but to bring in foreigners because Sinkies are not making enough babies. Plus, foreigners create jobs. 6.9mil seems ludicrous now but by then we'd have room. Higher living costs means lousy Sinkies will leave,so the country will only be filled by talented FTs, most of whom will also have families, thus producing more talented people. This way, SG remains the best in the region.
